Skin Rejuvenation

Medical Grade Laser

We have invested in the very latest medical grade Nd Yag laser and 3D IPL technology with the latest laser skin workstation by FormatK to get real results with many skin issues.

Operated by our fully trained Registered Nurses and senior Skin Therapists, we can help you achieve skin clarity you may not have considered possible.

As this is a medical grade IPL and laser, we will need to have a consultation and test patch before we can perform any treatment. This is a chance for you to ask any questions you may have. We explain costs, how many treatments you are estimated to need, aftercare products to use after to keep your skin protected and at its best. We will ask for medical clearance on anything that we assess as needing further assessment before we can perform treatment. A letter will be given to you to give to your GP or dermatologist to assess and report on.

ND Yag

The 1064 Nd Yag laser is the latest in medical grade laser technology to treat Broken capillaries, spider veins, cherry angiomas on the face or body. The Nd Yag has a wavelength of 1064 nm and can reach deeper layers of skin tissue that many other types of laser’s cant. It targets those unwanted blood vessels that can be quite troublesome to patients.

IPL

Intense Pulsed Light is a light-based treatment proven to provide a solution to various skin conditions on the face and other areas of the body commonly the arms, chest area and hands.

Photo facial, photo rejuvenation, light therapy, are all terms that refer to this type of treatment.  Light waves are passed through the skin and target specific pigments; melanin in the skin (responsible for age spots, ‘liver spots’, freckles) and oxy-haemoglobin, red pigment found in blood; (capillaries, red veins, rosacea).  The light energy converts to heat energy, and it is this heat that damages the pigment producing cells, without overheating the surrounding skin.

Pigmentation

  • Treatments start at $75 up to $199 for a full face treatment.

  • The appearance of sun damage and age spots are induced by the natural ageing process, sun exposure or hormonal changes. The brownish pigmented spots are the result of an increased deposition of melanin induced by these factors. The latest IPL technology we have at Nelson beauty for skin pigmentation treatments targets melanin in the darkened areas and reveals unblemished skin. The energy delivered causes the pigmented lesions to disappear through your body’s natural healing process, resulting in clearer and healthier looking skin.
We can treat mottled pigmentation, sun damage, sun and liver spots and freckles. This treatment is not only limited to the face, our experienced nurses and therapists can perform this on décolletage, hands, and body. The results are second to none.

  • Most people need to have a minimum of 2 treatments. After treatment pigment will turn darker and flake off its very important to follow the aftercare instructions which we advise you of at your consultation and will give you written instructions to take home post treatment.

Diffused redness/Rosacea

  • When treating diffused redness or rosacea, the target for is the red oxyhaemoglobin in our blood. With our 3D IPL we can treat very small vessels or redness. For larger ones we use our Nd Yag laser. Both devices are used in some cases. Light from the device is absorbed into the vessel coagulating the blood. The heat produced will radiate to the capillary walls and cauterize them, and the wall collapses. This result in the vessel disappearing or fading from the visible skin surface
This treatment is suited for cheeks, nose, chin, décolletage, and neck.

  • This condition is one of the hardest skin concerns to treat. We treat small areas at time to achieve better results and reduce localised swelling which can be a side effect.
The number of treatments needed depends on the area and degree of redness.

Vascular lesions, spider veins and capillaries

  • We have the latest in medical grade laser technology to treat vascular lesions on the face or body. The Nd Yag has a wavelength of 1064 nm and can reach deeper layers of skin tissue that many other types of lasers cant.
The Nd Yag laser is used to target unwanted visible blood vessels and capillaries, spider veins, cherry angiomas and other vascular lesions on the face and body. During treatment the patient may feel some slight discomfort, we describe it as like a tiny bee sting, however a cooling apparatus is used to counteract the feeling of heat as the blood vessel is being treated.

The length of time needed to treat depends on how many blood vessels need to be treated. This can be a very quick treatment, depending on how many vessels are present. If larger areas are needing treatments, we do a course of treatments to ensure minimal trauma to the skin. Redness, mild swelling, and scabbing can occur on treated sites. This can take a few days to heal.

Aftercare is fairly simple, with sun exposure avoidance until the skin is completely healed from treatment and minimal sun exposure between treatments. A sunblock must be applied after all treatments and daily thereafter. Patients are advised to wear a hat as well as the required sunscreen when avoiding the sun is difficult.

Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve desired results.

Photo rejuvenation skin rejuvenation

  • Also known as a photo facial, this is a non-invasive and no down time treatment perfect to have on your lunch break – and almost pain free too! It is the treatment for improvement of collagen density, skin texture, tone, and a great refresher for the skin. It is the gentlest of IPL treatments available. The IPL tricks the skin into creating a wound response. This results in collagen synthesis which is a slow process taking up to 3 months to see the full results. A series of treatments is necessary, generally 4 – 6 depending on age and skin condition. We include other treatments in this treatment, such as microdermabrasion or our ASAP peels as these will enhance results. To achieve the best results a series must be completed, with appropriate topical homecare.
